Sigma Delta Pi’s mission and goals, as outlined in its national by-laws, focus on recognizing academic excellence and promoting Hispanic culture. The society’s purpose is multi-faceted: Honor Academic Excellence: Recognize students who excel in the study of the Spanish language, literature, and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. Foster Cultural Understanding: Promote appreciation, understanding, and respect for the peoples, cultures, and societies of Spanish-speaking countries. Recognize Contributions: Honor individuals who have advanced the understanding of Spanish-speaking world contributions through their work or support. Serve Members: Support the society’s membership in pursuing its goals and ideals, fostering a community dedicated to Hispanic culture and celebrating the Spanish language.
